International Director of CIPFA, Alan Edwards, to Keynote FISC Conference

Alan Edwards to focus on the role of PFM professionals in meeting the challenges of the 21st century at annual FreeBalance Conference

Ottawa, Canada (January 17, 2012) – FreeBalance, a leading vendor of Government Resource Planning (GRP) software, is pleased to announce Alan Edwards, International Director of the Chartered Institute of Public and Financial Accountancy (CIPFA), as a keynote speaker at the annual FreeBalance International Steering Committee (FISC) event held on January 16-18, 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey. Mr. Edwards will brief senior government officials and Ministers of Finance about the impact of capacity building for performance management in the government sector, and the need for certification for modern Public Financial Management (PFM) professionals.

Alan Edwards brings 25 years of experience in government advisory and financial services. He is a former partner of PwC and KPMG in the public sector division. Mr. Edwards also held the position of Civil Government Industry Leader at IBM and was responsible for consulting and systems integration in the central and local government of the United Kingdom. Alan Edward’s current work includes projects to support public financial management professionals in Nigeria, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Kosovo, Canada, and other European and African countries.
