FreeBalance Participates in Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) Financial Management Information System Conference

Conference to focus on leveraging technology and e-Government to support country goals and objectives

Belize City, Belize (September 15, 2009) - FreeBalance, a global provider of software solutions for public financial management (PFM), is participating in this week’s Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) Financial Management Information System Conference. The conference is taking place from September 14-17 in Belize City. The conference is focused on leveraging technology and e-Government infrastructure to better support country goals and objectives through the budget process.

The FreeBalance conference delegation is being lead by Doug Hadden, Vice President of Products. The FreeBalance team will be participating in workshops and discussion groups focused on common issues related to Financial Management Information Systems (FMIS) in the Caribbean. FreeBalance will also participate in user group sessions for government customers in the regions, including Antigua & Barbuda and Guyana. FreeBalance solutions for public financial management have been in use in the Caribbean for almost a decade. The Government of Antigua & Barbuda is part of the FreeBalance International Steering Committee.

CARTAC is a regional resource, based in Barbados, which provides technical assistance and training in core areas of economic and financial management at the request of its participating countries. The CARICOM Council of Ministers of Finance and Planning (COFAP) took the decision to establish the Centre in September 1999. The Centre became operational in November 2001.
