Press ReleasesCapital Development Authority of Islamabad Selects FreeBalance for Public Financial Management Project FreeBalance Accountability Suite to be deployedin capital city of Pakistan Ottawa, Canada (September 23, 2008) - FreeBalance, a global provider of software solutions for public financial management (PFM), today announced that the company has been selected to provide the Capital Development Authority (CDA) of Islamabad, Pakistan with an off-the-shelf Integrated Resource Management Information System (IRMIS). The Capital Development Authority was created by the Government of Pakistan in 1960 to meet the needs of the citizens of the Islamabad Capital Territory. The Integrated Resource Management Information System (IRMIS) will enable the CDA to modernize public financial management and improve resource utilization. The FreeBalance Accountability Suite software will support all aspects of the Capital Development Authority budget cycle. The software will provide fiscal control over fund allocations, expenditures, revenues, procurement, fixed assets, human resources and payroll. The CDA has over 14,000 employees working in 50 directorates covering 908 square kilometers. The CDA is responsible for a wide range of local government functions, including infrastructure development, urban planning, waste management, collection of taxes, urban planning and water supply for a population or over 1.5 million.
