Support Specialist – Functional
As a Support Specialist - Functional you will have the opportunity to contribute to our on-going success by delivering quality and timely services post implementation of our financial products to our customers for all project deployments. The Support Specialist - Functional will be expected to provide regular offsite support to the overseas offices of FreeBalance. The Support Specialist - Functional will be expected to travel as needed to other offices both globally and in Ottawa, sometimes with very little advance notice. The Functional Support Specialist will also be expected to work on an on-call basis in cases of urgent customer issues.
Main Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer issues and requirements and facilitate solutions
- Ownership and accountability for case identification and resolution, case logging, progress reporting and progression through to resolution
- Analyze business requirements and tailor effective solutions using FreeBalance software
- Possess an understanding of business processes and the resulting use of the FreeBalance Government Resource Planning (GRP) software and its application
- Train and regional office staff in the use and functionality of the FreeBalance GRP software and its various modules
- Customer requirements gathering and definitions for enhancements
- Testing of new features and functionality
- Assisting customers with migrations and upgrades from existing versions to new versions
- Learn and understand customers’ environment and assist with utilizing the product to the full potential
- Act as primary functional support contact for the customer post-implementation of the GRP software
- Provide functional input to proposals
- Provide feedback to sales, product management and development teams on future product requirements based on interaction with customers
- Develop new or modify existing custom solutions, including forms and reports;
- Support the customer’s operational start-up phase
- Design, produce, document, and/or verify products, interfaces and/or processes or similar needed for the integration for the solution in the customer’s environment
- Be able to travel to provide on-site/ off-site assistance to customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- University degree in IT, Business Administration, Commerce or related field
- Experience in accounting / ERP implementation experience in a customer-facing role
- Demonstrate previous experience supporting government customers for translating business issues and providing solutions by writing specifications for the technical team
- Basic knowledge of government and civil service structure and operation
- Experience using CRM tools to resolve customer issues
- Possess excellent communications skills, particularly when working with non-technical personnel
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Intermediate skill level of SQL Scripts and reports/form development using one or more of the following reporting tools: JasperSoft Reports, Crystal Reports, Oracle Forms, Adobe and Visual Basic
- Experience in RDBMS Administration and Development
- Some experience in developing applications using .Net, Java and Visual Basic
- Ability to travel within Canada and internationally
- Must be able to read, write and speak English and Spanish fluently
- Excellent customer management and organizational ability
- Ability to speak, read and write French would be considered an asset

Main Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day office administration including reception duties, mail management, and maintaining office supplies.
- Prepare all local and international shipments, including all customs forms
- Coordinate complex international travel itineraries, including flights, cars, hotels and visa applications
- Maintain and organize travel records including itineraries and passports.
- Maintain general office files, including contract and legal filing
- Adhere to the company ISO procedures
- Act as the point of contact for all facility-related matters, including building management liaison, repairs, equipment maintenance, furniture, security system, parking, and physical moves.
- Perform purchasing duties on behalf of the company
- Organize company and client meetings and associated logistics, including equipment and food
- Manage the corporate security program
- Ensure common areas are kept clean and equipment is in good working order
- Maintain company floor plan to make recommendations on appropriate space allocation for changes in staff or operational requirements
- Participate and organize social company events
- Provide back-up administrative support during proposal preparations
Education and Experience:
- College diploma or certificate in office administration, or equivalent experience
- Previous experience with international travel and visa applications considered an asset

- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS-Office Products

Pre-Sales Consultant
The Pre-Sales Consultant works closely with the sales, marketing and business development teams to support FreeBalance sales activities. The Pre-Sales Consultant will play a lead role in defining the ideal FreeBalance solutions for Government Resource Planning software opportunities. The Pre-Sales Consultant will be active in reviewing and responding to Requests for Proposals and preparing and delivering presentations to prospects. The Pre-Sales Consultant will also provide business and technical product expertise, solution features and benefits information and deal-specific competitive analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with sales, marketing and business development teams on RFP’s
- Analyze requirements through prospect interactions, discoveries, etc.
- Configure financial software to meet the business requirements of the client
- Assist with pricing scenarios, business benefit and ROI analyses, and creation of competition-differentiating sales tools
- Support the other FreeBalance teams with prospect presentations, proposals, sales strategies and tactics. Ensure timely fulfillment of prospect and client needs
- Give presentations at customer and prospect sites and conferences. Ongoing education of the sales team on solutions and approaches.
- Work with product and marketing teams to help create industry specific marketing materials
- Develop and nurture business relationships with prospects and existing customers within the sales region to ensure strong client references and solid knowledge/value understanding for prospects
- Perform market research to identify opportunities and competitive threats
Education and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will be a graduate from a university commerce program specializing in accounting or finance.
- Strong background (5+ years experience) in presales / consulting activities for public financial management software solutions
- Experience in the areas of project management, resource management, and financial management
- Ability to understand customer business problems and clearly formulate and articulate software solutions to solve those problems
- Strong presentation skills and experience with executive-level communications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Ability to travel internationally as required
